Stock Market – NYSE / AMEX and NASDAQ?

Hi, I'm a newbie to the stock exchange and has the following questions. What is the difference between NYSE / AMEX and Nasdaq? To my knowledge, NASDAQ is an automated system to help you buy / sell shares automatically. But what do we mean by listed on the NYSE or NASDAQ in the list, not what you are negotiating the same actions no matter what system you are in? if I can buy / sell a stock (eg FBTX – NYSE stocks) through online broker account, tdameritrade say, is that means I'm in the automated trading system, if so, is a NASDAQ? confusion. My second question is: I have an answer to say whether an action is NYSE / AMEX or NASDAQ stock base, its symbol, 1,2,3 letter – NYSE and NASDAQ letter 4 was, however, Why is a population FBTX New York Stock Exchange? please help. thanks.

The following link is a bit technical, but soon gives some reference points starting to look elsewhere, and is authorized: http://www.sec.gov/divisions/marketreg/mrexchanges.shtml Go to the list of ten bags each have a page history (s). As odd Symboled population, some companies are moving upward. NASDAQ has a technical representation of the company largely small. New York Stock Exchange expects some strength and stability that NASDAQ does not. Sometimes, then, when a company feels is sufficiently "ready for prime time" move up. Think about the trade as major league baseball. Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia have minor league teams, while the NYSE and NASDAQ are the greatest. Anyway, if you were a good baseball player, would you rather play with the Yankees or Mets? FBTX moved to the Yankees.
